Yulin's Herbs

Cultivated in the pristine mountain-lake regions of China that are free of pollutants, the herbs used in Yulin International products are organically grown and contain a potency undiminished by environmental impurities.

Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis)
Also known as women's Ginseng, Dong Quai has been used by Chinese women for over 500 years to relieve premenstrual and menstrual syndromes. It is also used to rejuvenate and energize women after childbirth. Dong Quai tonic is a key ingredient in all of Yulin products, bringing the same invigorating properties to the skin care products.

Dong Quai is a natural source of vitamin B12 and other cellular enhancing phytochemicals. Also known as Chinese Angelica root, this most ancient and effective herbal remedy has been used for revitalizing Chinese women, particularily after childbirth, for thousands of years. Angelica is especially effective in supporting skin rejuvenation when combined synergistically with other herbs, such as Glycynthiza root(licorice) and Ginseng root.

The legend surrounding Dong Quai's discovery was commemorated in the Chinese poem,"He ought to return a little sooner but failed to return; she ought to wait a little longer but failed to wait." The herb was thus named, danggui,"ought-to-return". The vitality missing from your skin will return after using Yulin's herb-rich regimen.

Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)
This Chinese licorice is used for healing and soothing sores, irritations and ulcers. An antioxidant that also acts as a soothing compound to the skin and other tissues, Licorice Root is used in the Yulin Eye Cream to soothe and revitalize this sensitive area of the face.

Lotus Flower (Nelumbium speciosum)
Known for its emollient and moisturizing properties, it is a key ingredient in the Yulin Moisturizer.

Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale)
The extracts from the Dandelion Root are used in a wide range of herbal preparations in China. The detoxifying qualities of Dandelion Root are used in the Yulin Toner to clarify the skin by removing impurities and helping to restore skin balance.

Mandarin Orange Oil (Citrus reticulata)
A key ingredient in the Yulin exfoliator, Mandarin Oil has a soothing aromatic effect on the skin and senses, while promoting collagen production by increasing circulation.

Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
The flower extracts have been used by the Chinese to heal wounds and reduce inflammation for centuries. A very skin-friendly herb, Marigold is used in the Yulin Moisturizer for its healing and rejuvenating qualities.

Maychang Oil (Litsea cubeba)
China is the main producer of this oil, much of which is used by the Chinese themselves. Its fragrant, lemongrass scented leaves and flowers belong to the same family as the laurel tree, rosewood and cinnamon. The essential oil found in the Yulin products is steam distilled from the fruit and used to cleanse and stimulate the skin.

Pearl (Zhenzhu) Powder
Pearl contains mostly calcium carbonate and organic substances including 16 amino acids and many trace minerals. Pearl is used by Chinese herbalists to detoxify the skin, clearing it of dark spots and making it smooth and youthful. Pearl powder is a key ingredient throughout the Yulin skin care line.

The traditional way of producing pearl powder is to wrap clean fresh water pearls in cheesecloth and place them between two pieces of tofu (bean curd), and then cook them for several hours. The tofu protects the active components of the pearl while making them easier to grind in a mortar and pestle.
